Grew up surfing the Central California coastline — Pismo, Shell Beach, the breaks south of Avila. Graduated from Arroyo Grande High School and headed for the desert in 2003.
Started paddling Arizona waters that same year — Tempe Town Lake, Saguaro, Lake Pleasant, the Salt River. The desert turned out to have more water than people give it credit for, you just have to learn where it lives.
The last five years, paddling turned into racing. Started showing up at events, kept showing up, built the time-on-water that turns a paddler into a competitor. The youth in Arizona deserve that pipeline too — that's why this academy exists.
